Abstract

A composite of MoS2/TiO2/CuS nanostructures was prepared by hydrothermal method. The structural and photocatalytic properties were investigated for the obtained composites. XRD patterns revealed the formation of hexagonal and anatase structure of MoS2, CuS and TiO2, respectively. XPS confirmed the chemical state of Mo, S, Cu, Ti and O, respectively. Morphological analysis revealed the formation of 2D layered MoS2 and CuS nanostructures on the surface of TiO2 spheres. The prepared MoS2/TiO2/CuS photocatalyst exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity on the degradation of methylene blue (MB) (98.96 %) under visible light irradiation. The detailed photocatalytic mechanism explains the enhancement in the degradation efficiency.
