Abstract
The basic definitions for two-dimensional (2D) Fourier transforms were introduced in Chapter 2 as Fourier transforms of signals with two arguments. As in the one-dimensional case, a variety of two-dimensional signal types are possible. In this chapter we focus on a particular signal type, and demonstrate the natural extensions of many of the one-dimensional results to two-dimensional Fourier transforms. We here consider briefly several extensions of previously described results to the two-dimensional case. More extensive treatments of two-dimensional Fourier analysis to images may be found in Goodman [18] and Bracewell [8].
