Abstract
The global power of social media is well known – whether we like it or not it moulds our kids and even influences politics! So imagine what it is doing in Medical Education. That millennial on their phone in your tutor group is not ignoring you; they may be fact checking, they may be sharing your pearls of wisdom… all via social media. What's a hashtag? Why should I be on Twitter? I hate social media… Social media has taken a very distinct role in the way medical and allied health students gather and share educational materials. This basic lecture will address the reasons why social media has become so popular. Should educators be on social media and how do you establish a profile for yourself in SOME? These and many more questions will debated and answered in this deliberilty interactive lecture.
