Abstract

The Turkish national movement emerged following the Ottoman Empire’s defeat in World War I (Zurcher, 1984). After the signing of the Mudros Armistice on October 30, 1918, the Allied powers began to occupy Ottoman territory. Meanwhile, a number of regional movements arose throughout Anatolia and Thrace (Tanor, 2002).
