Abstract

Terahertz absorption in cylindrical quantum well wire under the influence of unsymmetrical electric field is investigated. The two dimensional Schrödinger equation is solved using finite difference method to obtain the eigen states and energies. The absorption spectrum is calculated using the density matrix approach. Resultsreveal that the absorption peaks are in the terahertz range for specific values of physical parameters. Also the results show that the frequency and amplitude of the absorption peak are completely tunable by changing the electric field and the wire diameter.
