Abstract
In this article, a design method for tunable LC-based FSS with a large tuning range and second-order band-pass frequency response is proposed. An LC-based bandpass FSS unit cell based on U-shaped strip is designed, which can provide a large tunable capacitance. A double-layer structure is proposed to obtain a second-order frequency response. Numerical simulation results show that the central operating frequency of the double-layer structure is tuned from 12.92 GHz to 11.76 GHz with a tunability of 9.4%. Moreover, the double-layer structure achieves second-order frequency response and angular stability of up to 60° for arbitrary LC states.
