Abstract

Tunable microwave photonic filter (MPF) with negative and complex coefficients is proposed and demonstrated. The multiple wavelengths optical source with stability and flatness can be realized by using a broadband source (BBS) and a waveshaper1. The negative coefficients of the MPF can be implemented by an electroopic polarization modulator (PoIM), and the cut-off frequency response can be effectively eliminated. The amplitude and phase of the optical carriers and phase modulation sidebands can be controlled by Fourier domain optical processor (FD-OP), which the complex coefficient and tunability of the MPF can be realized. In the experiment, the 10 taps with 0.2nm are used as input optical source, the free spectrum range (FSR) is 34.91GHz. The center frequency is continuously tuned from 0 to 34.97 GHz and the shape remains unchanged.
