Abstract
A tunable wavelength-selective fiber Bragg grating (FBG) filter was demonstrated in an erbium-doped fiber ring laser (EDFRL) configuration to achieve a stable and tunable dual-wavelength laser source. The tuning method was based on a thermo-optic effect of a single FBG divided into two segments by two identical coils. Using this coil heater, we showed a continuous wavelength spacing of dual-wavelength output from 0.25 to 5.5 nm. Furthermore, each wavelength could be independently changed during lasing operation without thermal crosstalk between adjacent channels.
