Abstract

Tunable Birefringent Optical fiber Filters, which consist of three noncontinuous fiber elements bent into coils each of M turns and radius R, have been studied and fabricated. Experimental results have demonstrated that the wavelength of maximum transmission can be tuned by introducing twist between the coils. The tuning range Δλ is 45÷50 nm in the 790-920 nm spectral region and 125÷135 nm in the 1085-1220 nm spectral region respectively
