Abstract

This research aims to determine the possibility of utilizing liquid palm oil waste (POME) as a new and renewable source of electrical energy. The research was conducted at PT Menggala Sawit Indo in Lingai Village, Banjar Baru District, Tulang Bawang Regency. This research is descriptive analytical in nature which is classified as qualitative research. The data collection technique was carried out by triangulation (combination) using literature study, observation process, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD). The data used is the POME capacity of palm oil mills. Data analysis is inductive with more emphasis on meaning than generalization. Research has found that palm oil POME waste is very good as a source of new and renewable electrical energy because it is capable of producing large amounts of electrical energy at low cost, has a fast return on investment, and is always sustainable. Using POME waste for electrical energy also provides benefits for human health and the environment because POME waste that has been used for electrical energy is no longer dangerous. Based on the results of this analysis, the policy of using palm oil waste as renewable electrical energy is feasible to be realized.
