Abstract

A high-temperature X-ray diffraction method is used under controlled pressure to evaluate dependence of the lattice parameter of various oxides at 700 and 1000 °C on the partial pressures of oxygen. Fe 1− x O and CoO have complete mutual solubility at 1000 °C. Two monoxides are observed at 700 °C. The solubility of cobalt in iron protoxide is weak; the solubility of iron decreases with increasing oxygen partial pressures in cobalt monoxide. They are respectively in the c.c. alloy and spinel phase.
