Abstract

The 208, 204Pb(d, 3He)207,203Tl reactions have been studied at Ed = 80 MeV. Five previously reported single-proton hole states in the former reaction and eight excited states up to 3 MeV in excitation energy in the latter reaction were observed. The l-transfers were deduced from their angular distributions. The DWBA was applied and absolute spectroscopic factors were obtained which are in good agreement with shell-model predictions for 207Tl. A proton bound state well radius of 1.286 fm had to be used which is larger than the usual neutron radius. For 203Tl, spectroscopic factors were in good agreement with the predictions of the model of a single-proton hole coupled with quadrupole and octupole vibrations of the core.
