Abstract

Infrared spectra of several clathrates of the Ni(4-methylpyridine) 4(NCS) 2 complex have been investigated. The splitting of the band at 809 cm −1, assigned to the out-of-plane CH vibration, into two or three components has been interpreted as molecular field and/or crystal field splitting. The interpretation of the effect given by Casellato and Casu has been discussed.
