Abstract

Enthalpies of formation in the Al-Te system have been measured by direct reaction calorimetry at 1000, 1062, 1150 and 1188 K, and at mole fractions between 0 and 0.7. The molar enthalpies of formation and of fusion of the congruently melting compound Al 2Te 3 have been determined. Evidence is presented for the continued existence of Al 2Te 3 in the melt.
