Abstract
Impedance tube measurement is commonly used in material research and building acoustics to study the acoustic properties of materials. However, air dissipation caused by multiple effects affects the accuracy of measurement results. This work discusses sound dissipation due to different effects in an impedance tube. The air layer method is used to measure the dissipation and to calibrate the tube. Accurate dissipation due to different effects is estimated by model-based Bayesian inference. The Bayesian analysis demonstrates the impact of tube dissipation on the acoustic measurements. The estimated tube dissipation drastically improves the accuracy of regular two-mic impedance tube measurements.
