Abstract

Noghays, who had immigrated to Turkey particularly in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, currently live in numerous cities dispersedly and collectively in some of the villages in these cities. In this article, certain sound properties of the language data collected from Noghays who live in Dogankaya, Seker and Akin villages of Sereflikochisar district in Ankara, Turkey have been examined. In addition, at the end of the article, a representative sample of lexicon of Nogai language is provided, a language which is in danger of rapidly becoming extinct despite all the efforts.
