Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to determine the learning strategies employed in classroom environments in Turkish language courses by elementary education eighth-grade students while learning grammar subjects, and to determine the extent to which they use these strategies. Data of the research, which was carried out in line with the scanning model, were collected through the learning strategies questionnaire form prepared by the researcher. This form was administered to students in one-on-one interviews. In the analysis of the data; frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were used. It was determined in the research that elementary education eighth-grade students always use attention strategies, mental repetition strategies, grouping strategies, implicit and explicit repetition strategies, memory support strategies, strategies to improve recalling, and metacognition strategies; whereas they sometimes use the strategies of attaching, organization and motivation.
