Abstract

The preparation of a crystalline zirconium phosphate containing apparent monolayers of tris(2,2′-bipyridine) ruthenium (II) is described. ESR and photoacoustic spectral data indicate the ruthenium complex retains its octahedral symmetry in this new host environment. Electron spin resonance data also indicate that under visible illumination triethylamine transfers an electron to the ruthenium complex to form a free radical amine cation.
