Abstract
AbstractNew quaternary ammonium monomers derived from N‐(dimethylaminophenyl)‐maleimides were prepared and characterized. Their copolymerization with vinyl compounds and modification of the polymers of the starting imides with methyl iodides yielded copolymers containing trimethyl(maleimidophenyl)ammonium units. Membranes based on crosslinked imide copolymers were prepared, and their properties were determined after quaternization of the tertiary amino groups.
