Abstract
Trimethobenzamide hydrochloride is N-[p-[2-(dimethyl amino)ethoxy]benzyl]-3,4,5-trimethoxybenzamide monohydrochloride. Trimethobenzamide hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder with a slight phenolic odor. It exhibits no optical activity. Trimethobenzamide hydrochloride may be determined by way of the characteristic fluorescence of trimethoxybenzoic acid which is a product of hydrolysis. This chapter highlights the physical properties, synthesis, stability degradation, metabolic products, and methods of analysis of trimethobenzamide hydrochloride.
