Abstract

The tribological behaviour of TiN-coated and uncoated samples of stainless steel and hardened high speed steel is characterised by an oscillation tribometer and a subsequent data and sample analysis. Two different oscillation frequencies are applied. The tribological behaviour is quantified by the friction coefficient, wear profile and phase trajectory of the oscillations. The phase space trajectories are shown to be a promising tool to an extended analysis of the friction behaviour.
