Abstract

Abstract A comparative study on the tribological properties of GFRP laminated composites containing MWCNTs, graphene and graphene-MWCNT mixture under different conditions is presented. The samples comprised of neat GFRP laminates and GFRP laminates further filled with0.1 wt. % graphene, 0.1 wt. % MWCNT and hybrid 0.05 wt. % graphene and 0.05 wt. % MWCNT mixture. The tests were conducted under three different applied loads of 40, 80 and 120N and sliding velocities of 0.98 and 1.96 m/s. Weight of specimen was taken before and after the experiments and to calculate the wear in terms of weight loss. The experiments showed that graphene filled GFRP composite has lowest coefficient of friction value, whereas the MWCNT reinforced GFRP laminate has the highest resistance against wear
