Abstract

This study focused on the mechanical, tribological, and corrosion behavior of graphene oxide (GO) reinforced NiPW composite coatings deposited by the electroless route. After deposition, all samples were analyzed using X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive spectroscopy methods. Hardness, tribological, and electrochemical tests of coatings were performed. The results demonstrated that the incorporation of GO effectively reduced friction, improved wear resistance, and enhanced corrosion resistance compared to NiPW coating. Among the tested concentrations, the NiPW/GO composite with 100 mg/L GO exhibited the lowest coefficient of friction as an average of 0.27 μ and the lowest corrosion potential value as Ecorr = −0.307 V.
