Abstract

AbstractThe nontricyclic antidepressant trazodone and the related triazolo antidepressants nefazodone and etoperidone are monoamine uptake inhibitors. We quantified the interaction of these compounds with monoamine oxidases in vitro and in vivo. All three compounds were devoid of activity in these studies. This suggests that the clinical use of trazodone, nefazodone, or etoperidone will not be associated with deleterious dietary interactions seen with monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressants.
