Abstract
This article aims at presenting trends in the use of information and educational technologies in universities. It presents the preliminary results of conducted between 31 October to 30 November 2016 the international study “Challenges for the management of information technology in universities”. It presents the preliminary results of conducted between 31 October to 30 November 2016 the international study “Challenges for the management of information technology in universities”. In article shown that IT technologies are widely penetrated in the activities of the universities. It was found that essential impact on the universities' activities have personalized adaptive learning and the penetration of open educational resources and Massive open online courses (MOOC). The main technological changes are related to the introduction of mobile and cloud technologies in education, as well as social networks, refracted through the prism of increasing demands on information security. All findings require rethinking the approach to the management of information technology in universities as well as the business model in higher education.
