Abstract
Each quarter, Health Affairs reports on new developments in one of four sectors of the health sphere: health personnel in Winter, health status and health care utilization in Spring, health care innovation in Summer, and national health care spending in Fall In this issue, we offer an update on trends in physician supply, health personnel, and medical education. In a related DataWatch, a group of American Medical Association researchers compares the practice characteristics of male and female physicians. Next, Dennis Andrulis and colleagues of the National Association of Public Hospitals and the Council of Teaching Hospitals provide data on Medicaid policies and AIDS.
