Abstract

Objective To analysis the pathogenic bacteria changes changes of CAPD-related peritonitis in a period of 8 years in our center. Methods A retrospective analysis of the pathogenic bacteria of CAPD-related peritonitis patients during the period from 2009 to 2016 in peritoneal dialysis (PD) in our hospital was performed. Results Three hundred and one CAPD-related peritonitis episodes in were recorded during 2009 to 2016. There were one hundred and eighty episodes of CAPD related peritonitis from 2009 to 2011(stage 1), and that was one hundred and twenty one from 2012 to 2016(stage 2). Culture positive rate was increased from 69.2% in stage1 to 80.6% in stage 2. PD duration was increased from 26.5 months in stage 1 to 36.5 months in stage 2. Gram-positive bacteria 53 episodes(43.8%) were recorded in stage 1 and that was 84 episodes(46.7%) in stage 2, Gram-negative bacteria 26 episodes(21.5%) were recorded in stage 1 and that was 54 episodes(19.3%) in stage 2. Staphylococcus epidermidis and E. coli was the most common gram-positive bacterium and gram-negative bacterium, respectively. Pathogenic bacteria spectrum was basically the same in elderly peritonitis patients as the younger patients.No differents in pathogenic bacteria spectrum were found in both diabetic nephropathy vs. no-diabetic nephropathy and long PD duration vs. short PD duration. Conclusions In association with the longer PD duration and the increased proportion of patients on PD, the incidence of peritonitis reduced, the bacteria spectrum changed insignificantly.
