The background and theory of ion exchange by resins in vitro and in vivo have been well elucidated.1, 4-22In some 250 reported cases of edema of chronic cardiac decompensation,23-37hepatic cirrhosis,27-38, 40pregnancy39and nephrosis,41, 42a large proportion responded well to resin therapy.
