Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) in the treatment of dizziness following spontaneous cerebellar hemorrhage. Methods Seventy-six patients with dizziness after spontaneous cerebellar hemorrhage were divided into 2 groups: the treatment group (44 cases) treated with HBO combined with psychological and drug therapy, and the control group (32 cases) treated only with psychological and drug therapy. Therapeutic efficacy was compared between the 2 groups. Results For the treatment group, 22 cases were cured, 19 cases were improved and 3 cases were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 93.18% (41/44), while for the control group, 5 cases were cured, 16 cases were improved and 11 cases were ineffective, with a total effective rate of 65.63% (21/32). Statistical significance could be seen in total effective rate, when comparisons were made between the 2 groups (χ2=9.36, P<0.01). Conclusions In the treatment of dizziness following spontaneous cerebellar hemorrhage, HBO was an effective and non-invasive treatment method, which could obviously improve life quality of the patients with cerebellar hemorrhage. Key words: Cerebellar hemorrhage; Dizziness; Hyperbaric oxygen
