Abstract

Objective To report the clinical results of two-stage release of circumferential congenital constriction bands with Z plasty.Methods Nineteen fingers of 10 cases of congenital constriction ring syndrome were treated with two-stage volar and dorsal release.In the first-stage half of the constriction band was released with a single Z plasty to change the circumferential constriction line.3 to 6 months later the other half of the constriction band was released with another Z plasty.Results Primary wound healing was achieved in all 19 fingers.Blood circulation of the transposed flaps was good.There was no tip necrosis.Follow-up ranged from 1 to 3 years,with an average of 2.5 years.There was marked improvement in the appearance of the fingers.The skin was soft without any contracture.No recurrence was seen.Conclusion Two-stage release of circumferential congenital constriction bands with 2 single Z plasty is easy to perform.The clinical results are reliable.The complications are rare.
