Abstract

For the timing of treatments of congenital hand anomalies, as we know, the operations will be delayed until the patients grow old enough and there is few anomaly needs to be corrected urgently. The congenital constriction ring syndrome was a rare deformity of congenital hand anomaly. It may show auto-amputation in severe cases, deformities of fingers in moderate and mild cases. In moderate and mild cases, z-plasty reconstruction can be used for the correction of the ring constrictions of the fingers. In some cases, the constriction ring may cause circulatory embarrassment and urgent operation for correction of the constriction ring was indicated. An infant with congenital ring constrictions of three fingers of right hand was presented. There were severe swollen tissues distal to the constriction rings and impending ischemic change was noted. One-stage operation with excision of the constriction rings and z-plasty reconstruction were performed. There was no circulatory embarrassment of the fingers and the swelling subsided gradually in the later follow up.
