Trayectorias y direccionamientos de la política de regadío en Brasil: las especificidades de la región Nordeste e del Vale do São Francisco.

Abstract

This article aims to present the trajectory and the directions of the Irrigation National Policy, pointing out the way that this State policy assumed a specific outline in the Northeastern Brazil and the Sao Francisco Valley related to the aspiration of the modernizing process that took place in the actions of the Brazilian State since de 1950’s. Based on discussions about the nature and the State role in the space production, processes identification undertaken, programs and actions of the Irrigation National Policy put into practice in the national territory, trying to reveal the logic, the guideline, the strategic, the discusses and the space and socio-economics’ implications. The text line follows a criteria in scale not only geometrical, but corresponds the interdependence of the processesand the facts that will be described, approaching the Brazilian irrigation policy and the consequences in the Northwestern Brazil and the Sao Francisco Valley.
