Abstract

Effects of childhood eye traumas on the posterior segment; It includes a wide spectrum from preretinal hemorrhage to the clinical presentation that may result in phthisis bulbi. This situation may present with clinical statuses such as commotio retinae, retinal hemorrhages, choroidal rupture, vitreous hemorrhage, lens dislocations, retinal detachment, intraocular foreign body, endophthalmitis, macular hole, and choroidal detachment. In spite of all efforts in the treatment of these patients, satisfactory visual and anatomical results cannot be obtained due to the difficulties in the response to trauma affecting the posterior segment in children and the difficulties in the healing process. In this review; It will be discussed which clinical manifestations in the posterior segment of open and/or blunt eye traumas in childhood may occur, as well as which approaches can be applied during the evaluation and treatment of patients.
