Abstract
This clinical case study shows a three-year-old girl running out of her home and leaving her mother, revealing an attachment difficulty. The mother was unable to maintain a bond with her children after abandoning them during an episode of depression. She has had a merging relationship with the infant, and her primary maternal preoccupation was troubled. The grandmother is central to this story because transgenerational pathology created a repetition in interaction difficulties, making it difficult to invest in a baby and deny her own needs. We can describe this pathology in terms of attachment difficulties or psychic envelope pathology, with narcissistic and oedipal conflicts.
