Abstract

Helicobacter pylori is, probably, the most common bacterial infection in the world with a worldwide prevalence rate of 40-50%. In most cases is asymptomatic, but in some cases is associated with peptic ulcer, gastric adenocarcinoma, gastric MALT lymphoma, or dyspepsia. Effective H. pylori eradication therapy allows the complete healing of peptic ulcer, and the elimination of a key cofactor in the appearance of gastric adenocarcinoma and lymphoma. The following protocol includes currently accepted diagnosis methodology, treatment indications and the appropriate therapeutic regimens for the eradication of bacteria as related as acknowledged in recent guidelines
