Abstract

The present work tries to analyze the phenomenon of the posttraumatic stress disorder from the point of view of specialists. Since joining the DSM classification as a nosologic entity, the clinical and social repercussions have been wide, as well as the discussion regarding the thought on the lines of causality of mental disorders. Perhaps this is the mental disorder that could generate the greatest difficulty when it comes to establishing an expert valuation, given its characteristics and the possible factors that could determine its appearance.The text is divided into different paragraphs which consecutively analyze the conceptual evolution of the term and the diagnostic criteria most in use at present in accordance with the DSM and CIE criteria; analyzes the risk factors; establishes the diagnostic methods and provides guidance on the meeting of criteria when conducting expert valuations.
