Abstract

We study exciton states confined in spherical and cylindrical quantum dots with stress on the transverse (T) and longitudinal (L) characters originating from the electron–hole exchange interaction. It is found that exciton states in a spherical and cylindrical shapes are almost LT-mixed modes.
