Abstract

Abstract The thermal conductivity of a Cooperative T-(e+t) Jahn-Teller system with dominating e-coupling is considered. As a model substance a simple cubic crystal is taken where each Jahn-Teller molecule has an octahedral surrounding. A specific hierarchical model is considered in which the electron-phonon system is approximately decoupled by a unitary transformation. This yields two transporting subsystems: a phonon system and a pseudo spin system. The thermal conductivity is calculated by linear response theory via current-current correlation functions. The current operators are evaluated by means of a formalism due to Maradudin. The relevant correlation functions are calculated by a 2nd RPA Green function analysis.
