Abstract

Modern glass windows, mainly double glass and low-emissivity (low-E) glass, are installed on the outer wall of the building to obtain the desired sound and heat insulation performance. Low-E glass can be regarded as adding metal coating on ordinary double glass. It leads to great attenuation of signal transmission, especially in the Sub-6G band, the commercial frequency band for 5G. In order to improve the transmission performance of glass to 5G signal in the future, the transmission performance of glass in Sub-6G should be evaluated accurately. Due to the complex electrical characteristics of metal coating, the study of transmission characteristics of double glass has become an alternative option. In this paper, the glass is analyzed by commercial electromagnetic simulation software (HFSS). The effects of dielectric constant, thickness, gap and the external signal are considered. Simulation of double glass shows about transmission loss up to 10 dB and the polarization and incident angle of the external signal have a great influence on the transmission characteristics.
