Abstract

We investigate electronic transport properties of carbon nanotubes sandwiched between other two carbon nanotubes. We call this kind of structure a cavity. We show that it may behave as a resonant box with quasi-bound states. This is a consequence of the differences between the band structures for the central carbon nanotube and both ends. We also study these properties for multiple cavities, where we find that the number of oscillations in the transmission function increases with the number of cavities of our system.
