Abstract

The demands of chronic conditions and disabilities challenge children and their families to manage their chronic condition and disability on a daily basis as children grow and develop. Children and adolescents are challenged to learn self-management skills and are vulnerable to developing stress created by the interplay between their developmental needs and the demands of managing the chronic condition and disability (Christian, 2016a, 2016b, 2019). As children with chronic conditions and disabilities become adolescents, they gain independence in self-management from their parents.
