Abstract

This study tries to research how slang words and phrases are translated in idiolects based on Venuti's model that might be one of the challenging issues in translation. To do so, two translated versions of “ The Catcher in the Rye ” by Mohammad Najafi (2010) and Ahmad Najafi (2010) are scrutinized. Due to Venuti's model, the results of the study clearly indicate that slang words and expressions cannot be translated word by word because they are culture-specific and should be translated in such a way to be acceptable to the target readers.
