Abstract

The X- and γ-ray and electron spectra associated with the (41.8 ± 0.5) min123Snm decay were measured by using high-resolution Ge(Li) and six-gap β-ray spectrometers. The123Snm activity was produced by irradiating enriched isotopes,122Sn (97.8%) with thermal neutrons and124Sn (96%) with fast neutrons. The present investigation besides confirming the weak transitions yields a hitherto unreported 170.9 keV γ-ray associated with the123Snm decay. A modified decay scheme of123Snm incorporating the new 170.9 keV γ-ray is proposed. TheK andK/L conversion coefficients for the 160.0 keV transition in123Sb have been measured for the first time. The results obtained are α K = 0.15 ± 0.01 andK/L = 7.6 ± 0.6. Our conversion data interpret the 160.0 keV transition to be almostM1.
