Abstract

Transition probabilities for magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole transitions within the ground-state configuration 1s22s22p2 in O III are calculated using J-dependent configuration interaction wavefunctions. These transition probabilities and rate coefficients of Baluja et al. (1981) calculated using the R-matrix method are then used to calculate the intensity ratio (I(1D2 to 3P2)+I(1D2 to 3P1))/I(1S0 to 1D2) which is used in temperature diagnostics of planetary and gaseous nebulae. The results are compared with other work.
