Abstract

The article deals with the problems relevant for the citizens of Kazakhstan related to the transition to the Latin alphabet and the desire of the state to improve the quality of teaching English in the country as part of the trilingual policy, which implies equal command of the population of Kazakh, Russian and English. The purpose of the study is to analyze the features of the modernization of public consciousness in Kazakhstan under the influence of the state’s transition to the Latin alphabet. The following methods were applied in the article: analysis of the legal acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, official documents of state authorities and statements of the state’s leadership, analysis of the scientific literature and the method of historicism. The author of the article argues that in the coming years Kazakhstan will be able to fully integrate into the system of international communication in English at the state level. Despite the existing difficulties and the postponement of the transition to the Latin alphabet to 2031, as well as the need for greater consolidation of society on this issue and for resolving existing concerns and contradictions, the policy of trilingualism has been successfully implemented for many years, and the level of English proficiency in the country is gradually increases, providing new opportunities for international communication for young professionals. In essence, the transition to the Latin alphabet in Kazakhstan is a significant factor in the modernization of public consciousness.
