Abstract

The application of multidimensional (MD) wave digital filter (WDF) techniques to the simulation of transients on nonuniform coupled transmission lines is presented. Previously, MD WDF principles have been proposed for the numerical solution of partial differential equations (PDEs) in a number of publications. Among these the problem of simulating transients for single and multiconductor transmission lines has also been addressed. It has been shown, that there exists a straightforward way of incorporating initial potential and current distributions as well as boundary conditions arising from linear lumped terminal networks into the MD WDF simulation algorithm. The present contribution constitutes an extension of previously reported approaches to the simulation of nonuniform transmission lines with space-dependent parameters.
