Abstract

Pediatric nurse practitioners in all areas of practice encounter anemic children. This article describes transient erythroblastopenia of childhood (TEC), a rare type of anemia that baffles health care providers and causes anxiety in parents. Understanding the cause, course, and treatment of TEC allows the nurse practitioner to educate and reassure affected children and their parents.
