Abstract

Conditions are provided to conclude error bounds and comparison results when evaluating transient or cumulative reward structures for continuous-time Markov chains under slightly different system input values or protocols. Such results are of interest for: sensitive (perturbation), computational (truncation), or bounding (modification) purposes. A reliability network with state dependent breakdown rates is studied as illustration. An explicit error bound is derived for the effect of inaccuracies in breakdown and repair rates. Also, monotonicity results are established.
