Abstract
This paper proposes a transient compensation method for thermistor-based sensors in constant temperature configuration. The main objective is to use a filtered estimation of the neglected transient effect in order to avoid steady-state assumption and to mitigate the transitory measurement error. A direct compensation method is proposed to obtain the compensated measurement from the original uncompensated information based on the electric equivalence principle. Digital and analog simplified estimation strategies are considered to obtain the filtered derivative of the thermistor temperature. A frequency response analysis is presented to derive the relationship between transient estimation errors and sampling interval. Finally, an experimental case study is presented to: (i) illustrate the effectiveness of the compensation method, (ii) analyze measurement noise effect in the context of the proposed approach and (iii) discuss about the advantages of the gain correction in the context of the proposed approach.
