Abstract

The backlash nonlinear characteristics generally exist in the mechanical transmission part of the servo system. To eliminate its influence and improve the system performance, based on the research for a weapon tracking servo system, this paper presents two compensation methods: the Direct Compensation Method and the Nonlinear Compensation Method Using Backpropagation Neural Networks (BPNN), both of which can be easily accomplished in engineering. The simulation results show that both of these methods can effectively get rid of the sustained oscillation (limit cycles) of the system caused by the backlash nonlinear characteristics, and can improve the system accuracy.
